Norwegian Male Chorus

Seattle, WA

The Seattle Chorus -- to celebrate their 125th Anniversary -- is Hosting the 2014 Sangerfest on June 19, 20 and 21. The Grand Concert will be presented In McCaw Hall, the premier ballet and opera venue at Seattle Center, on the 21st. The headquarters are to be the Hilton Doubletree Seatac.

The Norwegian Male Chorus of Seattle was founded in 1889 -- the year of Washington's statehood -- and is the oldest continuously operating choral organization in Seattle.

In addition to the annual Sangerfest, our performance schedule includes Sons of Norway Leif Erikson Lodge functions, Yulefest and Tivoli Viking Days events at the Nordic Heritage Museum and the Sytende Mai Parade.

In July we had the fantastic experience of a joint concert with the Seattle Norwegian Ladies Chorus and the Giske Blandekor from the Norwegian island of Giske near Aalesund. The main feature of the Giske performance was a 50-minute performance -- all from memory -- of their "Leikaren," based on Olde Norse poems written before 1000 and the christening of Norway.

Also for the past two seasons we have joined with a barbershop harmony chorus, “The Seattle SeaChordsmen” in presenting “A Ballard Christmas.”

Rehearsals take place every Monday evening at 7:00 at the Nordic Heritage Museum, at 3014 NW 67th Street, except for the last Monday of the month. That rehearsal is located at the Norse Home 5311 Phinney Ave N.

A medal representing 20 years of service with the chorus was presented to Russ Oberg by President Kim Gronvold.
